A/Prof Daevyd Rodda is a globally recognised and highly experienced orthopaedic surgeon, specialising in hip and knee replacement procedures. With an emphasis on minimally invasive techniques, he is a pioneer in anterior approach hip replacement and patient-specific, robotic, kinematically aligned knee replacements. Daevyd performs a high volume of these complex surgeries each year.

Dr Rodda is not just a skilled surgeon but also a sought-after mentor in the field of joint replacement surgery. He is the only surgeon on the Sunshine Coast to supervise an international fellowship in anterior hip and knee replacement surgery. This prestigious role involves training orthopaedic surgeons, both locally and internationally, in advanced techniques for several months under his guidance.

In addition, he is recognised as a ‘surgeon proctor,’ drawing experienced orthopaedic surgeons from across Australia to further their knowledge of joint replacement surgery. In 2023, numerous surgeons from various Australian states visited Daevyd to learn and improve their surgical skills. Some surgeons whom Daevyd has trained have stayed on the Sunshine Coast, adapting and implementing many of these techniques.

Daevyd Rodda is an authority in rapid-recovery techniques for joint replacement surgery. He is the visionary behind the Medibank rapid-recovery, no-gap program. His groundbreaking protocol has been embraced by more than 20 joint replacement hospitals throughout Australia and is supported by numerous scientific publications. He has initiated the no-gap program at Buderim Hospital and is actively collaborating with other companies to develop similar programs.

Driven by his passion for innovation, research and education, Daevyd has formed a partnership with the University of the Sunshine Coast. He is currently engaged in multiple research papers, quality improvement initiatives, and clinical trials and is instrumental in creating a Graduate Certificate Program in Anterior Hip Replacement. This collaborative effort involves prominent joint replacement surgeons from Australia and an international panel of world-leading experts in anterior hip replacement surgery.

Dr. Rodda is committed to healthcare equality, taking pride in founding the Sporting Chance Foundation; a charitable organisation that offers surgical and rehabilitation services to young Indigenous athletes who have sustained sporting injuries.

Daevyd takes a comprehensive approach to managing patients with painful, arthritic joints. He leads a multidisciplinary team that provides the most advanced surgical and non-surgical treatments available. He consistently delivers world-class surgical results with a compassionate and caring demeanour. The meticulous approach he applies to surgery is mirrored by his hand-picked team, who share his philosophy and passion for excellence.
