This surgical intervention is commonly recommended for individuals experiencing conditions such as spinal stenosis or herniated discs causing leg pain that has not responded to conservative treatments.
During lumbar decompression surgery, the surgeon aims to create more space around the affected nerves to reduce pressure and alleviate pain. This is often achieved by removing a portion of bone or tissue that is pressing on the nerves. The procedure can vary in complexity and may involve different techniques, such as laminectomy, microdiscectomy or foraminotomy.
Pain Relief: Lumbar decompression is primarily performed to relieve leg pain and associated symptoms.
Enhanced Mobility: By reducing nerve compression, lumbar decompression may improve mobility and overall quality of life.
